Yoga Basics

Yoga Basics is designed as an introduction to yoga and a great place for beginners to start. Class is slower paced and focused on developing clear and safe alignment in the foundational poses of yoga. You will explore building a sustainable yoga practice and receive individualized attention as you gain flexibility, strength, and balance.

Class Desciptions

Restorative Yoga

Yoga offers a great tool for stress management and relaxation. You can expect some gentle movement, stretching and long supported postures, in which to rest.  Restorative yoga is a meditative practice that engages the relaxation response for an extended time period.

Slow and Low

In this class all poses will be on or low to the ground. Multiple levels of stretching into poses will be explored and movements will match the breath. The goal is to achieve a deep level of relaxation for the body, mind and spirit. If you are in other profession that demands high paced environments that deplete your physical and mental energy throughout the week, come recharge with this practice. Not quite yin, not quite restorative, simply slow and low.

Yoga Flow

In this Vinyasa Class we’ll synchronize breath with movement and build strength, balance, and flexibility evenly in the body. We will utilize sun salutations and poses you learned in Yoga Basics, weaving them into both simple and challenging creative yoga sequences, while maintaining a calm breath and steady mind.

Slow Flow

Slow Flow is a little more active than yoga basics but slower than vinyasa, with extra time to sink in and notice. This class often incorporates resistance bands for additional strength training and therapy balls for fascia rolling.

Beginner to yoga?

Welcome! We’re so thrilled you’re here! At Barefoot Works we make it our goal to help you have the absolute best yoga experience you can. We are especially proud of the way our community and our instructors welcome new students and provide a great introduction to yoga.

Which Yoga Class Should I Take?

New to yoga or need to brush up? Start with Yoga Basics. You’ll learn foundational poses and sequences that will build your confidence in order to go to any class you wish.

Need to quiet your mind and slow things down? Take Restorative Yoga or Slow and Low. You’ll have more time in poses to explore stretching, breathing, and calming your mind. Slow and Low is a great option for beginners who want more movement in class but prefer to stay in seated or supine postures.

Need a yoga boost? Take a Flow class. Whether slow and steady, or strong and sweaty, you’ll leave feeling stronger, longer, and balanced.
